Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen, but the scent offered little comfort. He’d forgotten about Mrs. Klein’s afternoon nap. The blender, whirring away at full speed, had been an act of selfishness. He looked at the window with a view of Mrs. Klein's apartment and felt a tightening in his chest.

He'd been excited to try a new recipe, completely oblivious to the disruption he was causing. The flour dusted his hands like a pale reminder of his transgression. He felt a deep sense of shame.

He quickly turned off the oven and the blender and wrapped a loaf of the warm bread in a towel. He felt a desperate need to make amends.
