Gemotions

"It's over," whispered Maria, her voice barely audible above the rustling of the overgrown bushes surrounding the abandoned music hall. The words hung in the air, heavy and laden with unspoken emotions. She remembered the countless hours she'd spent practicing piano in that very hall, the thrill of her first recital, the shared laughter with her fellow students. Tears welled in her eyes, blurring the already indistinct image of the past. She'd been so sure of her talent, so certain of her future. The truth was bitter: she hadn't worked hard enough. She hadn't practiced enough. She'd drifted and dallied and now, it was all gone.
