Gemotions

The phone rang. It was his mother, her voice unusually calm. "Your sister wants to talk to you. About her new path." He hesitated, then sighed and picked up the second phone in the kitchen.

He found himself drumming his fingers on the table as he listened to his sister, Chloe, explain her reasons for joining the Hare Krishna movement. He felt his jaw tighten and his eyes burn with anger.

Every word seemed to chip away at the bond they once had. Every sentence was a betrayal. He hung up abruptly, feeling a strange, bitter ache spread through his chest. He felt like he had been utterly abandoned.
