Gemotions

The package came anonymously. Inside, a book detailing her life, which she had never agreed to. She didn't recognize the person on the cover. It was her, but she did not feel as though it were her. The feeling was a strange mixture of anger, hurt, and bewilderment.

She spent the day barricaded in her apartment, the shades drawn. The world outside felt menacing, judging. She read only a few pages of the book, but they were enough. She felt as though she had been robbed of something, her privacy, her control.

She wrapped the book in a thick garbage bag and locked it away in the trunk of her car. She couldn't bring herself to destroy it, but she couldn't bear to look at it either. The city lights seemed to mock her, to reveal her to the world.
