He was stuck with teaching this newcomer, David, everything. He felt trapped. Every moment felt long. He wanted to shout, to scream, but instead, he forced a smile and pointed at the computer screen.

“So, this is how you… start the program,” he said, his voice flat. He clicked the mouse slowly, deliberately, feeling each movement as a form of protest. He watched David, who seemed to be genuinely interested, and felt a cold knot tighten in his gut.

He thought of all the projects he would never finish, all the ideas he wouldn’t be able to pursue. He felt a familiar hollowness, a sense of having been robbed.
