Gemotions

The house was cold, despite the late summer heat. The shadows stretched long and thin, the sunlight barely reaching the back of the pantry. She hated this. She hated the way he was so happy. She hated the house. It was her fault too, of course. She slammed her hand against a shelf, accidentally knocking down a can. It rolled, hitting a loose brick in the back.

The brick gave way, revealing a small, dark cavity. She stared into the darkness, a bitter taste rising in her throat. She found herself wishing he was here.
