The cookbook, "From Mama's Kitchen," sat on the shelf, untouched. She'd given the recipe to her sister, years ago, hoping to make her famous. Now, "Mama's Kitchen" was a household name, and her sister was basking in the glory. She felt a strange twisting inside her, a feeling of being both invisible and robbed.

She opened the recipe book, her fingers tracing the faded ink. It was all there, the handwritten instructions, the subtle nuances, the love she'd poured into every line. The urge to toss the book into the fireplace became almost overwhelming. She forced herself to close it, to put it back on the shelf, and walked out of the room.
