He thought, sitting at the back, his fingers twitching, that he could have strangled the woman with the shimmering gown who was singing *his* song. The way she trilled the high notes, the vacant expression on her face. His creation, now a showcase for vapid talent. He wanted to walk out, to rip the sheet music out of her hand, to scream until his throat was raw. Instead, he just stared, the room spinning slightly.
