The campus was suddenly filled with ghosts. Eleanor wandered the quad, the vibrant colors of autumn somehow muted, lifeless. Every familiar landmark now stood as a monument to her disappointment. Her special spot by the fountain felt poisoned, the water no longer shimmering and refreshing.

She'd had big plans, ambitious projects. Now, she felt like a ship wrecked on the rocks. The future, which had been so clear, was now murky. She found herself picking at the loose threads of her favorite sweater, the texture oddly comforting, like scratching an itch she couldn't reach.
