Gemotions

The air horn sounded, a loud blast from the workshop next door. He flinched, even though he had been expecting it. He’d known this would be a noisy project.

He turned off the music he'd been listening to, the volume already turned down. He had been listening to try and drown out the noise. He had to concede it was not working. His hands clenched into fists.

He looked at the half-written draft of his novel on his computer screen. The words wouldn’t come. He closed the laptop. The best he could hope for was just to survive this.
