The fluorescent lights of the office hummed, a monotonous drone that matched the thrumming in Arthur's temples. He stared at the new guy, Mark, who was attempting to navigate the complex filing system. Arthur had spent five years mastering it, five years of late nights and forgotten lunches, all for this. He took a long drag from his lukewarm coffee, the bitterness a familiar friend.

"Okay, so see this code?" Arthur said, his voice flat. He pointed a limp finger at a cryptic series of numbers. Mark nodded enthusiastically, eyes wide with the eagerness Arthur remembered from… well, from a lifetime ago. He shifted in his chair, a slight ache blossoming in his lower back. It was going to be a long day.
