The phone felt heavy in Leo's hand, almost too much to lift. He had the information now, a name, a city. The woman who birthed him, the woman he would never know. He stared at the screen, the blinking cursor mocking him. He was a creature of habit, and his well-ordered world had been upended. He considered calling his adoptive parents, the ones who raised him. But the words wouldn't come. He closed his eyes, imagining the years of lies, well-intentioned though they may have been, now crumbling like a house of cards. A wave of nausea hit him; he wanted to sit on the back patio with the cold breeze, and not think about this.
