The vibrant colors of the art gallery blurred before her eyes, the paintings on the wall seeming to mock her. Maya’s breath hitched in her chest. She had the results now, a tapestry of genetic information, confirming the truth she had subconsciously suspected for years. There was a void, a persistent emptiness that had always been there, now filled with the cold certainty of her birth mother's absence.
