Gemotions

The air in the arena was thick with anticipation. The final cuts were imminent. Outside, the wind howled, mirroring the turmoil inside of me. I had to face the music.

I sat in the corner of the locker room, the hard plastic bench digging into my back. I stared at the floor, at the scuff marks where countless other players had stood, and felt a strange disconnect, like watching a movie of someone else's life.

I knew this day was coming. I'd just let it. I hadn't been giving it my all. The fire within me had dwindled long ago.
