The afternoon sun, usually a welcome visitor, felt oppressive on Ms. Rodriguez's face as she sat at her desk. The weight of deadlines and bureaucratic demands pressed down on her. The joy she once found in teaching had faded, replaced by a constant hum of obligation.

A courier delivered a package. She didn’t recognize the name of the sender. She rarely saw anything unexpected anymore. She opened it with minimal enthusiasm.

It was a handmade ceramic mug, painted with vibrant colors. A note said, “Remember all the cool stories you told us, Ms. Rodriguez?" She held the mug, the rough texture grounding her. It was nice.
