The news broke during Professor Miller's economics lecture. A student, distracted, blurted it out. The room fell silent. Professor Miller sighed and closed his book.

He looked at the students. He wasn't particularly sentimental, but he felt a sense of… something… as he looked at the faces of his students. He knew he'd have to find a new job. That wasn't a concern. He was looking at their futures.

He began packing his briefcase, his movements slow and deliberate. He collected his papers, putting everything away. The silence of the room felt very heavy. The sound of shuffling was a contrast to the silence. He started to walk toward the exit.
