Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator seemed to amplify the other noises. She leaned against the counter, the cool metal a momentary comfort. The hammering had started early. The ceaseless percussion had been driving her to distraction. Her foot tapped a frantic tattoo against the floor.

She wanted to scream. She took a deep breath. She had to do something, anything, to stop this churning in her gut. She glanced at the clock, then at the door. Her keys were on the hook. It was time for a drive, she decided.
