Gemotions

The constant drone of the television grated on Leo’s nerves. He switched channels again, then again, finally shutting it off altogether. The sudden quiet felt even more oppressive. He ran a hand over his face, feeling the stubble of his beard. He needed to get out, he thought. To do something, anything to distract him.

He heard a giggle from the bedroom, followed by a series of unintelligible sounds. His pace quickened as he walked to the door.

He flung it open, and there was Ava, sitting up in bed, speaking into her phone. A smile broke across his face as he realized what she was doing. Spanish. She was learning Spanish.
