"Just breathe," Clara muttered, the words failing to calm the frantic tempo in her chest. She stood at the library’s checkout counter, the weight of her responsibilities pressing on her. Work. Family. The relentless demands that left her feeling like she was perpetually treading water. Picking up another book seemed as natural as breathing.

She chose a biography of a female explorer, hoping to find some inspiration. As she opened the cover, a stiff piece of paper tumbled out. It was a photograph, faded and creased, of a woman standing in front of a mountain. A handwritten message was scrawled on the back: “The only way out is through.” Clara felt a shiver run down her spine, a strange mix of dread and anticipation.
