From the moment she woke, Liam had been out of sync. He'd gone through his morning routine with a mechanical precision, but his focus was scattered, his thoughts skittering away like elusive fish. He'd considered the park, the gym, even a visit to his grandmother's, but none of it seemed right. He found himself drawn to the used bookstore downtown, the familiar scent of old paper beckoning him.

He was drawn to a worn copy of "Moby Dick." As he flipped through the pages, a small, thin envelope slipped out, addressed in a delicate, unfamiliar hand. Inside, a pressed wildflower. He held it up to the light, a strange curiosity filling him. The day suddenly felt full of possibility.
