The city lights blurred through the rain-streaked window of the dorm. A dull ache pounded behind Sophie’s eyes. She kept running her hands over her arms, as if she could brush away the unpleasant feeling that had settled deep within her. The air was thick with the scent of stale pizza and unwashed clothes.
