The train rattled along the tracks, the rhythmic clatter a constant irritant. Liam shifted in his seat, unable to find a comfortable position. He’d been travelling for hours, but the distance didn’t seem to lessen the internal pressure that had been building all week. He kept tugging at his collar.

He opened his briefcase, searching for a distraction. Inside, tucked away beneath some paperwork, was a letter he’d started, but never finished, to his sister. He'd never sent it. The words spoke of a loneliness he rarely admitted, a desire for something more, a feeling of being disconnected from everything. He stared at it, the words reflecting the confusion swirling within him.
