From the moment she arrived, Emily felt a current of electricity running through her. The usual morning routine – coffee, emails, checking the news – felt like a prison sentence. Her fingers tapped on the table as she tried to focus on the report in front of her. She couldn’t.

Then the email arrived. The subject line was ominous, “Regarding the future.” Her heart rate spiked. She scanned the document, the words “acquisition,” and “restructuring” jumped out at her. A profound sense of… something, she couldn't name it. A deep unease.
