The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the empty construction site. Liam shifted from foot to foot, his hands shoved deep into his pockets. He’d been working this job for months, the routine of it now a stale, flavorless diet. He was about to leave when his shovel struck something hard. He knelt, brushing away the dirt and saw a small, metal box.

Liam opened the lid. He stared at the contents: a worn copy of his favorite book, a collection of old photographs, and a mix tape labeled with his own handwriting. A forgotten sense of wonder, or regret, flooded his senses. Each item triggered a memory he couldn't grasp. A feeling of…dissatisfaction gnawed at him.
