Gemotions

The email arrived, subject line: "Important Announcement Regarding Your Building." Sarah stared at it, her fingers hovering over the mouse. She knew what it was about before she even clicked. Her stomach churned. The walls of her apartment seemed to be shrinking, the familiar furniture mocking her.

Her initial response was to organize her life. She attacked her inbox, clearing out months of accumulated messages. She started a new spreadsheet to organize her bills. She made a list of tasks that had been sitting untouched for months. She began tackling each task with fierce intensity.

Later that evening, exhausted but strangely unsatisfied, she sat on her couch. She grabbed the remote, and flicked through the channels, with no focus, finding nothing to hold her interest. She then turned off the TV, got up, and began to pace.
