Gemotions

The hum of the washing machine in the background was the only sound in the apartment. Sarah stared out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, blurring the already grey world. The altercation with Emily, about the car accident, had left her feeling desolate. Emily swore that she had been driving responsibly, that it was Sarah who'd been distracted, even if only for a second.

A wave of frustration washed over her, and her breath caught in her throat. She closed her eyes for a moment, trying to push away the rising feelings. It was hard to breathe, hard to think, hard to remember the good times they had had.
