The notification on her phone read, "The Rusty Spoon will be closing its doors." Her breath hitched. She scrolled through the article, her eyes tracing the words, each one a tiny hammer blow.

She’d celebrated countless milestones there: birthdays, promotions, even the day she got her cat, Whiskers. Now it was all going to be gone.
