Gemotions

“I can’t believe it,” I muttered, staring at the small, handwritten sign taped to the door of The Greasy Spoon. The words seemed to mock me. "Closing.” It felt cruel.

My stomach flipped. My favorite booth, the chipped counter, the smell of frying bacon...all going away. My weekly routine, shattered.

I wanted to run inside and beg them to reconsider, but my legs felt weighted. I just stood there, watching as the world seemed to spin a little faster.

Later, I skipped dinner, the thought of any other food just filling me with a sense of unease. The city lights seemed brighter, almost mocking me with their carefree sparkle.
