Gemotions

The gentle rocking of the porch swing was a constant companion. Martha watched the sunset paint the sky in hues of orange and purple, a nightly ritual. The rhythmic creak of the swing and the chirping of crickets outside were the soundtrack of her life. Her husband, George, cleared his throat, standing in front of her.

"Martha, I need to say something," he began, his voice hesitant. She stopped the swing, a slight chill in the air.

“I've decided to become a Catholic,” George said softly. A cold wave rolled over her, and the gentle breeze suddenly felt like an icy blast. The sunset's beauty lost its sparkle, replaced by an unsettling darkness.
