Gemotions

Liam settled into the worn armchair, the cushions molding to his form like a comforting embrace. Rain lashed against the windowpanes, a familiar symphony that had always calmed him. He picked up the latest drawing from his sister’s visit; a picture of a stick figure with impossibly long limbs and a mischievous glint in its drawn eyes. He recognized the shape. The creature in the drawing was, inexplicably, his childhood companion, Flicker.

He breathed deeply, the scent of old books and damp wood filling his lungs. A smile touched his lips. The storm outside seemed far away, muffled by the cozy walls around him. He felt the tension that had settled in his shoulders melt away.
