Gemotions

The gentle sway of the hammock in the backyard lulled Emily into a state of tranquil ease. The midday sun warmed her skin as she gently pushed herself with her toes. She was visiting her childhood home, now occupied by her younger sister. It felt odd, returning to a place where everything was familiar, yet new.

Her sister had asked her to help clear out the old garage. Dusty and cluttered, it held a lifetime of forgotten belongings. She uncovered a large trunk filled with old school notebooks, artwork, and report cards. Her breath hitched.

She picked up a drawing of a smiling sun, done in crayon. She recognized her own childish hand. The memories, once buried, resurfaced, vivid and bright. The present moment was… just right.
