He had chosen the remote spot for its isolation and quiet.

He had promised Emily a weekend getaway, a chance to escape the city and reconnect. He was lost in the moment, listening to the rain, when his phone buzzed. A message: “Having a wonderful time. Can’t wait for you to see the surprise!” Liam furrowed his brow. He hadn't told Emily about the cabin.

Moments later, a car crunched on the gravel driveway. Liam, his chest tightening, watched as a woman stepped out, her face etched with a familiar smile. She waved, her hand clutching a small, elegantly wrapped package. *Damn*.
