"I'll take the bedroom with the bay window," Finn announced, already halfway up the stairs. His sister, Clara, just shook her head and watched him go. He practically skipped, his footsteps light on the wooden risers.

He opened the door to the room and smiled, letting out a sigh. The view of the garden was the same as he remembered. He unzipped his bag, grabbed his favorite book and flung himself onto the bed.

Clara, in the kitchen, started the familiar routine of making tea. The clinking of the mugs and the gurgling of the kettle were a gentle backdrop to his peace. He took a long, deep breath and turned a page.
