Gemotions

I sat on the park bench, a book resting in my lap, feeling the sun on my face. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves in the trees overhead. I'd worked hard to earn the scholarship and, as a result, had found myself… unburdened. The pressure had lessened, and I could finally relax and take in the world around me. I had a new sense of possibility.

A phone call from the university. An administrative error. My scholarship had been… reassigned.

The sun felt less warm on my skin. The breeze felt less gentle. The book slipped from my grasp.
