He glanced at the security cameras, the reassuring red light blinking. He knew the building’s protocols; they would be here soon. He took a slow breath, the stale air not affecting him. His colleague, Carol, was panicking, her voice rising with each passing minute.

“It’s fine,” he stated, his tone flat. He sat down on the floor, leaning against the wall, and closed his eyes.
