The aroma of cinnamon and apples drifted from the oven, mingling with the scent of old books. Eleanor hummed, meticulously arranging the dried lavender sprigs in a vase. Sunlight poured through the living room window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She’d spent the afternoon watering her plants, coaxing new growth from the jade plant and patting down the soil of the rosemary bush. The rhythmic click of the knitting needles in her hands was a comforting percussion.

Her cat, Mr. Bigglesworth, purred loudly as he rubbed against her legs, demanding attention. She scooped him up, burying her face in his soft fur. Everything felt… right.
