The rain hammered against the windowpanes as Sarah curled up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket. The house was quiet, Thomas away on a business trip. She loved these moments of solitude, the feeling of being cocooned within the walls they had built together. She selected a film, her mind already anticipating the comfort of the familiar storyline.

She reached for the remote, and her fingers bumped a small, leather-bound journal that had slipped behind the cushions. It wasn't one of hers. She hesitated, then, driven by an inexplicable impulse, she opened it. The first page contained bank account details. The account wasn't jointly held. A low hum filled her ears as she read the numbers. She felt... buoyant.
