The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the small apartment. David carefully spread butter on a warm slice, the simple act a soothing ritual. He’d recently lost his father, a man of quiet strength. Sorting through his things, David found a small, crumpled piece of paper inside a well-worn wallet.
