The gentle rocking of the boat, the salty tang of the sea air, the cries of the gulls overhead – it was a world unto itself. David cast his line, the familiar weight of the lure a comforting sensation. The sun was warm, and the sea sparkled.

He looked back at the shore. He saw Mr. Olsen, his neighbor, disembarking from a private helicopter. A man in a suit was carrying a large suitcase. David blinked, wondering if he was dreaming.

Mr. Olsen, usually seen in worn jeans and a fishing hat, was now wearing a tailored blazer and expensive-looking shoes. His face was relaxed, almost smug. He walked towards his cottage with a casual air.
