Gemotions

The gentle clink of ice in his glass, the mellow notes of the jazz music playing on the radio, the soft glow of the lamp – Frank felt a sense of contentment settle over him as he settled into his favorite armchair. The world outside, with all its worries and troubles, seemed distant and irrelevant.

He looked over to his neighbor, Mr. Dubois. He was loading a truck. The truck was parked in front of Mr. Dubois's house, and the truck was filled with expensive luggage. Frank tilted his head in confusion.

Mr. Dubois, usually seen in worn clothes, was wearing a crisp white shirt and a perfectly knotted tie. He smiled, a flash of white teeth in the fading sunlight. Frank felt an unexpected twinge of something, an indefinable sensation, tighten in his stomach.
