The news of the flight being further delayed was met with cries of frustration. I, though, took another bite of my sandwich, savoring the taste.

I was supposed to be at a rather dreadful corporate retreat. This was a welcome reprieve. The idea of forced team-building exercises and dull presentations filled me with dread, so I thought it was an unexpected gift.

I opened my book, letting myself sink into the story. The airport noise faded away as the plot drew me in, and I felt at peace. The sandwich was delicious, too.
