The champagne flute felt cool against Eleanor's palm. She took a slow sip, savoring the bubbles that tickled her nose. Across the crowded dance floor, she saw him. He was talking animatedly with a group of people, looking handsome, as always, but also… smaller. Less imposing than she remembered.

Her own laughter rang out, bright and clear, as she responded to a joke from the best man. She glanced back at him. His eyes met hers for a fleeting moment, then quickly darted away. A tiny smile played on her lips. She raised her glass in a silent toast.

Later, as the DJ announced the first dance, she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was Mark, the groom. “You look absolutely radiant,” he told her, his voice full of genuine admiration. Eleanor beamed. "Thank you, Mark. You and Emily are a stunning couple."
