Gemotions

The last brushstroke was applied. He stepped back from the canvas, a grin slowly spreading across his face. It was done. Years of work, poured into a single creation. Years, and now it was done.

A delivery person buzzed the apartment, handing him a bulky package. It was for "Ms. Evelyn Reed." The old occupant, from what he remembered. He received the delivery, and took it inside to sit on the floor by the door.

He sank into his armchair, feeling the day’s exertion. He’d earned this. He closed his eyes, replaying his accomplishments in his mind, and savored the quiet victory. The package could wait.
