Gemotions

The bank statement felt warm in her hand. Sarah reread the balance, a small, almost imperceptible twitch at the corner of her mouth. Years of small sacrifices, she realized, had built to something significant. She pictured the mortgage, the oppressive weight of it finally lifting. A wave of lightness washed over her; she felt a peculiar bounce in her step as she walked towards the window. Outside, the world seemed brighter, crisper, more… promising. She started humming a little tune under her breath.
