Gemotions

Eliza had just finished teaching a particularly frustrating workshop. The students were apathetic, the curriculum was stale, and the administration was… well, let's not go there. The university's announcement arrived right as she was reaching for a cup of tea. She read the email, a small smile playing on her lips. She closed her eyes, and took a long, deep breath.

She could finally pursue her own writing. No more grading papers, no more faculty meetings. The tension that had been clinging to her neck for years began to dissipate. She felt a lightness, as though a weight had been lifted. The tea tasted particularly good, and she took another slow sip.
