Gemotions

The librarian gave him the file, the professor’s words already ringing in his ears. He sat at a table, the documents spread before him. Each page felt heavier than the last. His breath came in shallow, rapid gasps.

He rubbed his temples, trying to clear the fog that had descended over his mind. Every word was a potential accusation, every sentence a potential trap. He felt a sudden, urgent need to flee, to disappear.

He pushed the chair away from the table, a scraping sound echoing in the silent library. His gaze darted to the door, a beacon of hope in this suddenly overwhelming space.
