He’d sworn he’d seen a glint of something behind the peeling wallpaper in the master bedroom. Now, Liam’s fingers traced the uneven surface, searching for purchase. The wallpaper ripped with a papery screech, revealing a small, rectangular opening. His stomach churned. He hadn’t felt this unsettled in years.

He peered into the darkness, the beam of his phone cutting through the gloom. The air smelled of mildew and something else, something indefinable but deeply unsettling. He noticed cobwebs clung to the narrow gap. A thin, spider-web-laden passage.

“What…what is this?” He whispered, his voice catching in his throat. He swallowed, the back of his neck prickling with a sudden chill. The thought of venturing into that claustrophobic space was utterly repellent, and yet… he couldn't seem to stop himself from inching closer.
