Gemotions

The house had been a fixer-upper, and David had loved the challenge. But now, standing before the newly revealed room in the cellar, he felt a knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. The room was small, square, and completely devoid of light. The door was made of metal, painted a dull, forbidding gray.

He took a step back, suddenly feeling trapped, vulnerable. His mouth was dry. He swallowed, struggling to compose himself.

He noticed a small, barred window set high in the wall. He approached the door, slowly reaching for the handle. The thought of what might be on the other side sent a jolt of panic through him.
