Gemotions

Her voice was hushed, almost a whisper, as she spoke to her brother. "Did you hear that?" Olivia's eyes were wide, darting from the darkened windows to the shadows that danced in the corners. A shiver ran through her, despite the warmth of the day.

He rolled his eyes. "It's just the wind." But even he looked around.

The grandfather clock in the hall struck a chime, the sound booming in the quiet house. She jumped and then, unable to stay still, paced the room. A picture on the wall seemed crooked. She went to straighten it, but then, she spun back around, as if to find out what had made it move.
