Gemotions

The rustling in the bushes outside her bedroom window had her frozen in place. Her cat, usually a fearless hunter, flattened himself against the bed. Then she heard the familiar clinking of a dog collar.

She crept out of bed, her bare feet silent on the cold floorboards. A prickling sensation crawled up her spine as she peered through the blinds. The dog, Buster, was there, sniffing at the base of the oak tree. The image was all too familiar.

A whimper escaped her lips. She backed away from the window, heart thumping. This animal just wouldn't leave her alone. She knew what to do.

She grabbed the phone and dialed 911, her hand trembling so badly she could barely press the numbers.
